Paediatric dermatology, a subspecialty of dermatology, is the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions in babies, children and adolescents. Paediatric dermatologists treat many skin conditions prone to children such as skin infections, moles, birthmarks, hives, psoriasis, cysts, rashes, eczema, acne, and warts. Although our skins may look similar, a child’s skin has many different characteristics from an adult’s, therefore a child’s skin condition may need to be treated in a different way. Additionally, paediatric dermatologists have the expertise to help children feel comfortable as they are examined and treated.
